The Coffee Art Project Exhibition, Paris

Are any of my readers Paris based? If so, one of my Pink Lace Doily Ltd Edt screen prints is part of this fantastic exhibition. It opens today and runs until November 22nd. Opening hours are 10am - 18pm. The link to the event is here.

Over 300 artists worldwide-have participated in this great exhibition which opens today! The Coffee Art Project aims to showcase the creativity and talents of emerging artists, while engaging a deep spirit of community among those who share a passion for great coffee and coffee culture. The ultimate objective of this program, however, is to raise valuable funds for and awareness of Project Waterfall, which supports clean water and sanitation initiatives.

'Lace Doily is my contemporary take on the vintage crochet doily. This is an item that holds such nostalgia, and historically many were used as coasters for coffee cups. Doilies were created using a method called 'Openwork' which allows the surface of the underlying object to show through. I created an illustration using this method, which is the method I illustrate in, and chose a modern colour to create a contemporary feel. This created a juxtaposition between the two eras. The illustration is delicate and fragile so the technique of screen printing captures the delicacy of the vintage crochet doily.'
